Fox Road Elementary School was selected as one of 14 elementary schools to participate in the Networks Basketball Ballhandling Club. This is the second year of the club at Fox Road Elementary. Our 2006-2007 club was chosen to perform at halftime of an ACC Women's Basketball tournament game in Greensboro, NC. (See slideshow below). The Networks organization uses the game of basketball to teach character education and the importance of a strong work ethic. The 51 members of the ballhandling club have made a committment to attend practice each Wednesday afternoon after school until May 19, 2008. During practice, these third, fourth, and fifth grade students work on dribbling and other ball handling skills in addition to learning character education. They are responsible for individual practice outside of school. The 2007-2008 ballhandling club will participate in three schowcase performances. Coach Schenk and Coach Inge, (Networks staff), along with Ms. Newton, Mr. Gray, Mr. Lewis, and Mr. Norton are dedicated to helping the students reach their individual potential. They encourage the students to demonstrate personal responsibility through hard work and a committment to excellence.
