Arrivals & Departures

SCHOOL BUS TRANSPORTATION

Students who ride the bus are assigned a regular bus stop each year. If a student needs to get off the bus at another stop or ride home on a friend's bus, the parent must submit a written request to Ms. Wood, Assistant Principal, for prior approval. Students can be suspended from riding the bus for inappropriate behavior. Safety of all students is a primary concern.  Students must obey bus safety and behavior rules and comply with requests of the bus driver as related to behavior. Students must remain seated and may talk quietly on the bus. All objects carried on the bus must be kept in a book bag.

CARPOOL AND PARENT PARKING PROCEDURES

Carpool students may be dropped off between 8:45 and 9:15 AM and picked up at the circle in back of the school between 3:45 and 4:10 PM. The speed limit in the carpool lane is 5 MPH. During afternoon dismissal, left turns are not permitted either into or out of the carpool lane. Carpoolers will be assisted by staff or Carpool Helpers at the designated side entrance for the school. Only buses, Daycare vans, and those with school-issued Special Transportation signs will use the front entrance/BUSES ONLY lane. Parents who need to park and enter the school during these hours must use the side parking lot/CARPOOL LANE.

At the end of the day, carpool students will be sent to the modular cafeteria for dismissal. Students who plan to ride home with a friend must bring a note from their parents. A student will go out to her/his car when her/his carpool number is called by the adults in the cafeteria. (Parents need to register for a carpool number in the school office prior to picking up their children from carpool.) Parents may not pick up their students from the sidewalk or inside the building due to the safety and security of our students. We ask that parents remain patient and in their vehicles during carpool.

EARLY DISMISSAL FOR INCLEMENT WEATHER

Schools in Wake County will rarely dismiss early. However, if threatening weather is predicted, please listen to local radio and television stations for announcements about delayed openings or early dismissals. Buses will transport students in either case at announced times. The After School Program will not operate when school is dismissed early.
